Alcohol-related crashes in Arizona happen far more frequently on weekends. Here's how an average day compares across the week.

What the numbers show
Weekends stand out. Saturday and Sunday together account for 43.1% of the alcohol-related crashes reported during these six years. Friday is also higher than the Monday–Thursday averages.
Tuesday is the lowest. The average Tuesday saw about 9.4 alcohol-related crashes, versus 22.4 on Saturday.
These figures describe how often crashes are reported, not an individual driver's risk. They are not adjusted for traffic volume. Alcohol-related also does not mean all forms of drug impairment.
Sources, calculations and downloadable data
We added the alcohol-related crash counts for each weekday in ADOT's annual Motor Vehicle Crash Facts reports (Chart 6-1) from 2019 through 2024. Each total was divided by the actual number of those weekdays during the six calendar years. The weekend share is Saturday and Sunday crashes divided by crashes across all seven weekdays.
